Install Langflow, build one visual LangChain-style flow, and know when to prefer it over Flowise after work.
Langflow is a visual IDE for the LangChain ecosystem—drag components, wire them, run chat / API. Home: langflow.org.
Flowise vs Langflow (30 seconds): both are visual agent / RAG builders. Want a gentle, general visual on-ramp → Flowise. Already think in LangChain components and want that vocabulary on a canvas → Langflow. Do not install both on the same tired evening.
After-work Python learners who have skimmed LangChain docs and want a canvas first (or in parallel) before writing more code. Absolute beginners can try Flowise first, then return here.

Follow the current quickstart on langflow.org (pip / uv, Desktop, or Docker—use whatever the site lists first for beginners).
Pick the smallest chat / agent starter. Delete until you understand every remaining wire.
Configure the model component with a key backed by an environment variable. In the playground send: “Reply with langflow-ok.”
Open the run / trace panel if present. Note which component produced the last string—that is the LangChain mental model in pictures.
Save JSON / YAML to scratch. In NOTES.md write one sentence: “I chose Langflow over Flowise because ___.”
Add one tool or retriever component (whichever the starter wires most easily). Ask a question that must use it. Stop at one tool—no multi-agent orchestra.
You connect canvas intuition to LangChain language—writing Python LangGraph / LangChain tomorrow will feel less foreign.
When components feel familiar, strengthen Python with Intro to Python Programming so code you later export or rewrite stays clean.
