Prophet 1.4.0 after work: maintenance mode — keep classic seasonality, plan new work carefully

Prophet 1.4.0 (PyPI ~15 Aug 2026) entered maintenance mode: bug fixes, dependency bumps, R parity only — no new features. Keep it for classic seasonal business series; for new work, skim alternatives without mashups. Not investment advice.

NumPy 2.5 after work: sort(..., descending=True)

NumPy 2.5.0 (21 Jun 2026) is a transitional release: Python 3.12–3.14, distutils gone, array-API descending sorts on np.sort / np.argsort. Follow-ups 2.5.1 (4 Jul) and 2.5.2 (9 Aug 2026). NaNs still sort to the end. Three things to try tonight. Not investment advice.

scikit-learn 1.9 after work: narwhals is a real dependency

scikit-learn 1.9.0 (2 Jun 2026, jeremiedbb) adds narwhals (>=2.0.1) so pandas and Polars set_output share one path after __dataframe__ deprecation. Experimental callbacks (ProgressBar, ScoringMonitor). Not a LightGBM/XGBoost roundup. Three things to try tonight. Not investment advice.
