Chronos-2 zero-shot forecasting in Python (a TimesFM alternative path)

Amazon Chronos-2 (pip install chronos-forecasting, HF amazon/chronos-2) is another zero-shot forecasting path for after-work notebooks—contrast with the Hub’s TimesFM-3 note. Not investment advice.

uv audit and optional malware checks for after-work Python

Astral’s uv adds preview `uv audit` (faster native pip-audit alternative) and optional UV_MALWARE_CHECK=1 OSV malware gates on sync—what evening Python learners should turn on tonight.

LightGBM 4.7: native Polars and PyArrow in the sklearn API

LightGBM v4.7.0 lets the sklearn API take Polars and PyArrow Table inputs natively—an after-work path into the modern tabular stack without a pandas-only bottleneck.

XGBoost 3.3: expectile regression and categorical features on by default

XGBoost 3.3.0 adds reg:expectileerror, turns categorical support on by default, raises Python to 3.12+, and deprecates gblinear—upgrade notes for after-work data/ML practice.

PyCharm stopped AI agents installing into the wrong Python (success rates jumped)

PyCharm 2026.2.1 Agent Environment Coordinator asks the right interpreter. JetBrains eval: 28 tasks / 6 models; average success 68%→98% (title: 95%+). After-work fix for venv/uv/Poetry pain.

NVIDIA NOOA: build an AI agent as one Python class

NVIDIA NOOA maps an AI agent to one Python class: methods=actions, fields=state, docstrings=prompts, type hints=contracts; a `...` body is filled by an LLM. Solid OOP after-work intro — research preview/alpha, isolate execution.

AWS open-sources Kiro Crew for asynchronous coding agents

AWS open-sourced Kiro Crew (formerly MeshClaw, Apache 2.0) so you can dispatch many coding agents with shared memory, skills, scheduled jobs, MCP, and sandbox — then review when done.

pythonopenclawcoding-agentsafter-workenterprise

OpenClaw 2.0: multiplayer AI coding and enterprise controls

OpenClaw 2.0 (v2026.8.1, ~31 Aug 2026) adds shared cloud sessions, Control UI, approvals, sandbox, and secrets — a personal harness moving toward team collaboration. Market explain for after-work Python learners, not an enterprise install pitch.

MCP spec 2026-07-28: stateless core and the Python SDK upgrade

MCP 2026-07-28 shifts toward a stateless request/response core, tightens auth (RFC 9207, CIMD over DCR), and updates TypeScript, Python, Go, and C# SDKs — why after-work builders should upgrade servers and clients.

pythonmcpsecurityserenaafter-work

Serena MCP critical RCE: what after-work Python learners must know

GitLab found critical RCE in Serena MCP (GHSA-pp25-4cg4-qcr9): malicious .serena/project.yml + Jinja could run code on open. Update serena-agent 1.7.0. MCP is a high-privilege local attack surface for after-work learners.

pythontimesfmtime-seriesforecastinggoogle-researchafter-workmachine-learning

Introducing TimesFM-3: Google’s multivariate time-series foundation model (2026)

What TimesFM-3 is, why multivariate zero-shot forecasting matters, and an after-work Python starting path—with license caveats. Not investment advice.

Is yfinance still reliable in 2026? Polygon is Massive — and a free official backup stack

yfinance is fine for after-work learning with a disk cache—not a live feed. Layer keyed REST (Massive, ex-Polygon), FRED, and SEC EDGAR; use Stooq CSV failover; migrate api.polygon.io on a checklist. Not investment advice.
